Accredited Joint Commission International
Accredited by the Joint Commission International since 2004, the Clínica Universidad de Navarra, at its headquarters in Navarra.
In 2023 we have been reaccredited for the seventh consecutive time at its Pamplona site and in 2024 it has been accredited at the Madrid site. In addition, in February 2014 it was the first center in Spain to obtain Joint Commission International accreditation for University Hospitals.
Outside the United States, the Clínica is the second oldest accredited teaching hospital in the world and the only Spanish hospital in this category.
The Joint Commission International (JCI) is a division of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), which is currently the largest accreditation organization in the United States in the field of healthcare.
It certifies that a center has reached the peak performance in its assigned goal, measuring the relevant functions of the organization and establishing standards of good practices.
The accreditation manifests the organization's clear commitment to the improvement of the quality of patient care, ensuring a safe environment, and continuous effort to reduce risks for patients and staff.
For this reason, the Clinic offers its patients the possibility of notifying their concerns about the safety and quality of their care through the Patient Care Service, suggestion boxes, or reporting about them directly to the Joint Commission International.

The accreditation is a rigorous process in which an entity, separate and distinct from the healthcare organization, evaluates the centre in order to determine a series of requirements designed to improve the quality of care. This certification constitutes an international guarantee of good medical practices.
