The Clinica Universidad de Navarra has acquired the most advanced linear accelerator for external radiation therapy.

This accelerator is the first Elekta Versa HD model to go into service in Spain.

The main advantages of the new equipment include a treatment speed up to 10 times higher than that of any conventional accelerator, as well as a reduced number of sessions.

Additionally, the Clínica has 3 linear accelerators for radiation therapy, specifically, two Siemens Mevatron Primus and one Siemens Oncor.

A linear accelerator (LINAC) is a large device that remotely administers high-energy X-rays to the location of the patient’s tumour.

The teams model the radiation field through a multi-layer system that modulates the radiation beam, thereby reducing the radiation to healthy organs and increasing it to the affected tissue.

La Clínica Universidad de Navarra ha adquirido un nuevo equipo de  radioterapia externa, el nuevo acelerador lineal Elekta VersaHD con  importantes ventajas en la administración de tratamiento radioterápico a  nuestros pacientes. Este nuevo equipo de radioterapia es 10 veces más rápido que los equipos convencionales e incorpora imágenes en 4D lo que aporta una mayor precisión en la administración del tratamiento.
