Radioembolization with yttrium-90 microspheres

Interventional Radiology

Cutting-edge technology

We continuously improve our technology, as we are clear that technology and research means new opportunities for our patients.

The Clinic is the most experienced centre in Spain, at a European level, in offering the treatment of liver tumours and metastases through this procedure.

The technique consists of injecting spheres marked with Ytrium-90, very small in size, through a catheter in the hepatic artery, from where they are preferably directed to the tumoural area.

Once there they emit radiation, which damages the tumour cells. In this way, it is administered directly from inside the organ, radiating the tumours directly and respecting the healthy liver.

The results are very positive, since in 90% of the cases, the progression of the disease is controlled and there is a reduction in the probability of metastasis in combination with chemotherapy.
