Clinical trial of efferent loop stimulation prior to ileostomy closure
THE MAIN OBJECTIVE OF THIS STUDY IS TO INVESTIGATE THE ROLE OF PREOPERATIVE MANAGEMENT PRIOR TO REVERSAL ILEOSTOMY. THE AIM IS TO EVALUATE WHETHER STIMULATION OF THE EFFERENT LOOP TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO PROTECTIVE ILEOSTOMY CLOSURE DECREASES THE INCIDENCE OF POSTOPERATIVE PARALYTIC ILEUS. THE SECONDARY OBJECTIVE IS TO EVALUATE HOSPITAL STAY AND SHORT AND LONG TERM POSTOPERATIVE COMPLICATIONS IN BOTH GROUPS. TO COMPARE POSTOPERATIVE ANAL CONTINENCE IN BOTH GROUPS.
