Medical degree (1999) and PhD (2011) in Medicine from the University of Navarra.
Specialist in Neurology at Clínica Universidad de Navarra (2004).
In 2011, he completed a one-year postdoctoral research stay at the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center at the University of Pittsburgh (United States).
Clinical collaborator in the Department of Neurology at Clínica Universidad de Navarra from 2004 to 2017. Clinical consultant in the Department of Neurology at Clínica Universidad de Navarra since 2017.

RESEARCH AREAS
- He has participated as principal investigator in 14 clinical trials with experimental drugs for Alzheimer’s disease.
- He has collaborated on 11 funded research projects, two of them as principal investigator.
AREAS OF INTEREST
- Diagnosis and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases involving dementia (such as Alzheimer’s disease, frontotemporal dementia, or dementia with Lewy bodies, as well as prion diseases).
- Study of the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease.
- Study of the clinical usefulness of neuroimaging biomarkers in neurodegenerative diseases involving dementia.
- Study of factors related to living with Alzheimer’s disease for patients and caregivers.
Activity
In teaching
- Tenured Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Navarra, accredited by ANECA. Positive evaluation of research for two six-year terms (2001-2009, 2010-2015, 2016-2021).
- Coordinator and professor of the course Brain Diseases of the Master’s Degree in Biomedical Research (specialization in Neuroscience and Cognition) at the University of Navarra. Professor in the courses Neurology, Clinical Practice VIII, and Mind, Brain and Behavior in the Medicine degree program at the University of Navarra.
- Tutor for residents in the Department of Neurology at Clínica Universidad de Navarra in the periods 2006-2010, 2014-2017, and from 2021 to the present.
In research
- He has participated in more than 120 conference presentations at national and international meetings.
- He has published nearly 90 articles in national and international journals, and has contributed to more than 20 book chapters.
- Co-supervisor of one doctoral thesis and supervisor of two ongoing doctoral theses.
