Researcher at the Experimental Ophthalmology Laboratory.
Non-invasive molecular diagnosis, biomarkers of retinal diseases, inflammation, angiogenesis, cellular aging, antioxidants, nanotherapy, cell therapy, personalized therapy, and the study of sex as a predisposing factor in retinal diseases.

Professional career
Degree in Biology from the University of Salamanca (2002).
PhD in Biology from the University of the Basque Country (2008).
Pre-doctoral stays, both of 4 months, at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine, School of Medicine, Philadelphia, USA (2006), and at Saint Antoine Hospital, Laboratory of Cellular and Molecular Pathophysiology of the Retina (INSERM), Paris, France (2007).
RESEARCH AREAS
- Participation as a collaborator in 16 publicly funded research projects and 15 clinical trials.
- Member of the editorial board of the journal “Journal of Clinical Pharmacology & Pharmacotherapy” as well as reviewer for several scientific journals: "Applied Sciences", "Biomedicines", "International Journal of Molecular Sciences", "Brain Sciences", "Journal of Developmental Biology", "Histology and Histopathology" and "Journal of Opthalmology".
AREAS OF INTEREST
- Participation in clinical trials on therapies for retinal diseases, mainly Age-related macular degeneration (AMD), Geographic Atrophy (GA), Myopia, Diabetic retinopathy (DR), and venous occlusion.
- Search for new diagnostic strategies based on imaging and personalized treatments through in vitro and in vivo experimental models.
Activity
In teaching
- Adjunct Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology of the School of Medicine.
- She has served on the examination committee for 6 doctoral dissertations at the University of Navarra and has supervised one doctoral dissertation.
In research
- Three six-year research terms evaluated by CNEAI (2004-2010, 2011-2016, 2017-2022).
- Author of 38 scientific articles in high-impact (Q1) scientific journals with an h-index of 14, and author of 2 book chapters.
- Attendance at more than 60 national and international scientific conferences with oral and poster presentations.
