Primary dedication to research in the field of obesity and its associated comorbidities.
Professional career
Degree in Biological Sciences (1998) and in Biochemistry (1999) from the University of Navarra. PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Navarra in 2005.
Since 2005, she has worked at the Metabolic Research Laboratory of the Clínica Universidad de Navarra, focusing mainly on the inflammatory state associated with obesity.
RESEARCH AREAS
Reviewer of more than 20 international publications, including J Clin Endocrinol Metab, Ann Surg, PlosOne, and Biotechniques.
Member of the Editorial Board of Obesity Surgery. Award of 6 competitive projects as Principal Investigator (FEDER-Instituto de Salud Carlos III, Department of Education of the Government of Navarra, Department of Health of the Government of Navarra, Department of Industry of the Government of Navarra, and PIUNA).
Overall, she has participated in 15 competitive projects. Project evaluator for the Agencia Nacional de Evaluación y Prospectiva (ANEP) since June 2013.
AREAS OF INTEREST
Study of the relationship between obesity and the development of colon cancer. Study of the state of chronic inflammation associated with obesity. Analysis of gene expression in the adipose tissue of patients with obesity.
Activity
In teaching
Associate Professor (Profesor Contratado Doctor) in the Department of Endocrinology and Nutrition of the School of Medicine.
Active participation in other teaching responsibilities, such as tutor of the Research Pathway, participation in sessions of the Master’s in Bioethics, and interdepartmental seminars.
In research
She has published 57 indexed articles, most of which have been published in recent years since joining the Metabolic Research Laboratory.
The publications correspond to prestigious international journals, with 40 of them in the first quartile of their specialty area, and with 17 publications with authorship.
