Professional career

Graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Navarra in 1989. Specialist in Cardiology at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra in 1996. PhD in Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Navarra, in 2016.

Founded and launched the Cardiology Service within the Department of Internal Medicine at Manacor Hospital (Mallorca) in April 1997.

Specialist in the Department of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra since 2002.

Completed a three-month professional exchange in the Hemodynamics Laboratory of the Cardiology Department B at Rangueil University Hospital in Toulouse (France), under the supervision of Professor Puel (2002).

RESEARCH AREAS

  • Schering-Plough Research Grant for Acute Coronary Syndromes (2001) for the study: *Clinical study on the relationship between inflammation markers, atherosclerosis, and thrombosis in stable and unstable angina.*
  • Optimization of outcomes in the percutaneous treatment of ischemic heart disease.
  • Imaging-based diagnostic study of ischemic heart disease.

AREAS OF INTEREST

  • Research on the diagnosis and percutaneous treatment of ischemic heart disease, aortic valve disease, and structural heart disease.
  • Use of simulation in medical student training.

Activity

In teaching

  • Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Navarra.

In research

  • Has contributed to 14 articles in national and international journals and has published three chapters in books by other authors.
