Verónica Aramendía
Researcher. Biomedical Engineer.
Primary focus on medical image analysis, with special interest in the application of the contrast-free perfusion imaging technique Arterial Spin Labeling (ASL) in magnetic resonance imaging.
Professional career
Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Public University of Navarre (2013). Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Public University of Navarre (2015). PhD in Applied Medicine and Biomedicine, University of Navarra (2020).
Erasmus student at Technische Universität Darmstadt, Germany (2013). Completed an international research stay during her PhD at the Cardiovascular Imaging Laboratory (CorLab), University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia (2019). Completed the IDEA Sequence Programming course organized by Siemens Healthineers in Cary, North Carolina, focused on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) sequence programming.
Member of the Biomedical Imaging Laboratory in the Department of Radiology. Her work focuses on the development of magnetic resonance imaging sequences and subsequent image acquisition, processing, and analysis.
RESEARCH AREAS
- Optimization of the Arterial Spin Labeling (ASL) technique to measure blood perfusion in magnetic resonance imaging across different tissues and organs, with particular interest in the myocardium and its application in patients with suspected coronary artery disease.

Activity
In teaching
- Accredited by the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA) as Assistant Professor (2022) and Associate Professor (2025).
- Served as Adjunct Professor in Biomedical Engineering at the Public University of Navarre from 2021 to 2023.
- Collaborated in teaching the course *Research Fundamentals II* at the Faculty of Psychology, University of Navarra, in 2019.

- Author of 13 articles published in high-impact international journals.
- Has collaborated on several research projects and participated in presentations at national and international conferences, including:
- International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM).
- Annual Congress of the Spanish Society of Biomedical Engineering (CASEIB).
