Degree and PhD in Pharmacy from the University of Navarra. Specialist in Clinical Biochemistry. Diploma in Public Health. She has completed research stays at the University of Leicester (United Kingdom) and Harvard University (United States).
Specialist in the Biochemistry Laboratory at Clínica Universidad de Navarra.
RESEARCH AREAS
Her research lines have been developed in the following fields:
- Contrast-induced nephropathy following intravenous contrast: comparative efficacy in prevention using an intravenous (IV) and oral hydration protocol.
- Comparative efficacy in prevention using an IV and oral hydration protocol; detection of early markers and further study of the pathogenic mechanism using an in vitro model.
- Risk factors, progression, and treatment of cardiovascular diseases and their molecular and cellular mechanisms.
- Integrating genomics, clinical research, and care in hypertension.
- Diabetic cardiomyopathy in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus: clinical and echocardiographic characteristics and association with plasma markers involved in myocardial fibrosis.
- Study of the involvement of PPAR alpha in the transition from left ventricular hypertrophy to heart failure in human and experimental hypertensive heart disease.
- Interaction between inflammatory and neurohormonal factors in heart failure. Effect of carvedilol on these factors and on coronary reserve.
- Factors associated with ventricular remodeling of the transplanted heart.
- Project title: Evaluation of the analysis of cholesterol oxides as biomarkers for cardiovascular risk stratification.
- Study of the involvement of cardiotrophin-1 in the vascular risk associated with metabolic syndrome.
- Evaluation of the analysis of cholesterol oxides as biomarkers for cardiovascular risk stratification.
- Characterization of new proinflammatory states in metabolic syndrome: interaction between the adipokines leptin and adiponectin and the proatherogenic and proinflammatory CD40/CD40L system.
- Evaluation of the CD40 ligand as a mediator of atherosclerotic risk in metabolic syndrome.

She has delivered specialty courses at the Official College of Pharmacists of Navarre, Harvard University, the University of Cantabria, the Spanish Society of Cardiology, and Universidad Europea de Madrid.
She has supervised 3 doctoral theses.
