Professional career

Degree in Pharmacy (1993) and PhD in Pharmacy (2000) from the University of Navarra. Specialist in Microbiology and Parasitology at Clínica Universidad de Navarra (1997).

She has been dedicated to Clinical Virology in both clinical practice and research for more than 20 years.

She currently carries out her clinical activity by promoting mycological and parasitological diagnostics, combining this with the start of research in this area and continuing with her projects and collaborations on infections in immunosuppressed transplant patients.

She has completed international stays of 4.5 months at INRA (Institut de la Recherche Agronomique, Jouy-en-Josas, France) and 26 months at the Health Protection Agency (Colindale, UK) and the Department of Virology at Imperial College London (UK). Previously, she also completed a stay at the Instituto de Salud Carlos III related to Clinical Virology.

RESEARCH AREAS

  • Influenza virus infection and other respiratory viruses. Viral infections and their mechanisms of resistance.
  • Infection in solid organ transplant recipients and hematopoietic progenitor transplant recipients.
  • Detection of resistance in fungal infection.

AREAS OF INTEREST

  • Virology and Molecular Biology, with a particular interest in respiratory viruses and herpesviruses (cytomegalovirus and others).
  • Infection in immunosuppressed patients (with a particular interest in transplant and hemato-oncology patients).
  • Development and detection of fungal resistance. Emerging fungal pathogens.

Activity

In teaching

  • Assistant Professor with a PhD (Profesora Contratada Doctora) of Microbiology and Parasitology at the University of Navarra. Faculties of Medicine, Pharmacy, and Sciences. University of Navarra (academic years 2001–2002 to present).
  • She served as a member (2003–2005) and secretary (2005–2009) of the Teaching Committee at Clínica Universidad de Navarra and collaborated with the Association of Networks of Teaching Committees (AREDA) as a representative of the Teaching Committee at Clínica Universidad de Navarra.
  • She served as a member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee at Clínica Universidad de Navarra (2014–2019)./li>
  • She has been a tutor of PhD students and has supervised two PhD theses.
  • She has supervised Final Degree Projects for students in Sciences, Medicine, and Pharmacy.
  • She served as a residency tutor during the periods 2003–2009 and 2016–2021.
  • She was the Advising Coordinator for one academic year (2007–2008).
  • She provided teaching (theory and practice) to nursing specialty students, students in the Applied Chemistry diploma, and professionals from other clinical centers from Clínica Universidad de Navarra (1994–1997).

  • 67 publications in national and international journals and more than 120 scientific communications and posters at national and international conferences.
