Professional career

Medical degree (2008) and PhD in Medicine (2013) from the Universidad de Navarra. Specialist in Radiation Oncology (2013, Clínica Universidad de Navarra).

Postdoctoral training in cancer immuno-oncology and immunoradiotherapy at the Universidad de Navarra under a Río Hortega contract (2013-2017). Simultaneously, she continued her training by completing the International Master’s in Molecular Oncology, taught by the CNIO (Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Oncológicas, 2013 to 2015), and a proprietary qualification in Immuno-oncology sponsored by CUN and Bristol Myers Squibb.

Postdoctoral training in the Immunoradiotherapy Program at Weill Cornell University (NY, USA), 2018 to 2019.

She is currently a clinical consultant in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra within the Central Nervous System Tumors area. She is also a principal investigator in the Immunology and Immunotherapy Program at Cima Universidad de Navarra.

RESEARCH AREAS

  • She is part of the Clinical Trials Unit and serves as principal investigator in several of them.
  • 1 active six-year research period: 2012-2017.
  • Principal investigator for 6 national and European projects.
  • Principal investigator/co-investigator in more than 100 phase I/II clinical trials.

AREAS OF INTEREST

  • Research on cancer immunoradiotherapy, with special interest in the abscopal effect (systemic effect of radiotherapy).
  • Drug development in preclinical and early clinical phases.
  • Biomarker analysis of response/sensitivity using in vitro and in vivo models and patient-derived samples.

In teaching

  • Collaborating Professor at the Universidad de Navarra (undergraduate and graduate students).
  • Guest lecturer in the Master’s in Research in Radiation Oncology at the Universidad Francisco de Vitoria in Madrid.
  • Co-director of two doctoral theses and supervisor of two bachelor’s final projects.
