Dr. Mª Ángeles García

Preferred focus on Oncology Pharmacy.
Professional career
Degree in Pharmacy, Universidad de Navarra, 1998. In 2004, she obtained the Certificate in Pharmacy Practice from the University of London while completing her residency.
Hospital Pharmacy Specialist since 2005.
PhD in Pharmacy, Universidad de Navarra, 2015.
In 2005, upon completing her residency, she joined the Pharmacy Department as a specialist pharmacist, with a preferred focus on Oncology Pharmacy.
In 2019, she moved to the Madrid campus as Head of the Pharmacy Department at that site.
In 2018, she attended the course “Drug desensitization. Initial ideas” (Fundació Martí Fabra), and in 2023 she participated in a new edition titled “Desensitization: A necessity, not a luxury”.
In 2021, she took part in the “10th online training course in colorectal cancer” (Universidad Francisco de Vitoria), and in 2022 she completed the program “University Expert in Tumor Immunology and Cancer Immunotherapy” delivered by the Universidad de Alcalá de Henares.
In 2022, she had the opportunity to participate in the training program “Aula GIFH”, aimed at hospital pharmacists recently appointed to lead a Pharmacy Department, and in 2023 she completed the Management Program for Clínica Universidad de Navarra professionals delivered by IESE Business School.
RESEARCH AREAS
- Supportive care in patients with cancer, particularly chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting.
- Desensitization to antineoplastic drugs.
- Prophylaxis of cytomegalovirus infection in patients undergoing solid organ transplantation.
AREAS OF INTEREST
- Supportive care treatments in cancer.
- Chemotherapy desensitization.
- Optimization of chemotherapy dosing based on anthropometric and functional data.
Activity
In teaching
- Adjunct faculty member at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Nutrition, Universidad de Navarra, since 2005, and at the Faculty of Nursing in undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
- Previously, she participated as an instructor in the Oncology Nursing Specialization Program at Clínica Universidad de Navarra (2006–2019) as non-official teaching.
- Preceptor for the Oncology rotation of 4th-year residents during their specialist training in Hospital Pharmacy, from 2005 until her move to the Madrid campus (2019).
In research
- She is the author of more than 20 presentations at national conferences and 9 presentations at international conferences. She has published 5 articles in international journals.
- She has served as a reviewer for journals such as Supportive Care in Cancer, Journal of Immunology Research, and European Journal of Hospital Pharmacy.
- She is a co-author of 8 book chapters related to her areas of interest and has supervised 6 undergraduate final projects at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Nutrition.
