Dr. Josep Martí
Director of the Department of Medical Physics and Radiation Protection. Physicist.
Professional career
Degree in Physics (1985) and PhD (1990), Autonomous University of Barcelona. He completed the “Advanced Course in Radiation Protection” at the Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas, Medioambientales y Tecnológicas (CIEMAT).
University Specialist in Radiation Protection in Medical Facilities, Complutense University of Madrid.
The Nuclear Safety Council awarded him the title of Head of Radiation Protection Service, and in 1999 the Ministry of Education and Science recognised his specialty in Hospital Medical Physics. He furthered his training at the University of Ulm (Germany) and at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Pittsburgh (USA).
Member of the Nuclear Medicine Service at the Clínica and Head of the Radiation Protection Unit.
RESEARCH AREAS
He has participated in more than 10 research projects funded with public competitive grants (2 of them as principal investigator).
AREAS OF INTEREST
He carries out clinical and research work in the areas of medical physics and radiation protection, with particular interest in:
- Optimisation and analysis of imaging in Nuclear Medicine and PET.
- Quality control of equipment.
- Radiation protection and dosimetry in a PET facility.
Activity
In teaching
ANECA-accredited Full Professor. “Profesor Contratado Doctor” of Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Protection at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Navarra.
He is the professor responsible for the subject Large diagnostic and therapeutic equipment in medicine on the Master’s in Biomedical Engineering. He has been director and lecturer on 10 training courses for operators of radioactive and radiodiagnostic facilities and on 3 courses for radiodiagnostic directors.
He is also director of the continuing education course Physics and Instrumentation in Nuclear Medicine.
In research
He has published more than 50 articles, 35 of them in indexed journals. He is editor of 2 books and co-author of 3 others, has written 16 book chapters, and has more than 200 communications at national and international conferences.
