PhD in Medicine from the Universidad de Salamanca in 2007.
Specialist in Gastroenterology at Hospital Universitario Ramón y Cajal in Madrid in 2007.
University Master’s degree in Health Administration from the Escuela Nacional de Sanidad and UNED (2012-2014).
Specialist in Gastroenterology at Hospital Universitario del Sureste (Arganda del Rey, Madrid) from 2008 to 2017.
Specialist in the Digestive Endoscopy Unit at Hospital Universitario Quirón Madrid from 2010 to 2015 and at Complejo Hospitalario Rúber Juan Bravo from 2015 to 2017.
RESEARCH AREAS
Participation as a collaborator in the following research projects in the Department of Human Anatomy and Histology, School of Medicine, Universidad de Salamanca:
- Junta de Castilla y León project SA073A6: “Analysis in knockout mice of the interactions between aromatase and insulin receptor substrate proteins (IRS–2) in neurodegeneration and neuroprotection processes”.
- FIS project PI021803: “Influence of pituitary P450 aromatase in the genesis of prolactinomas and its relationship with estrogen receptor alpha, dopaminergic D2 receptors, and the expression of p27 and Pit-1”.
- Junta de Castilla y León research project US43/02: “Three-dimensional reconstruction of the Central Nervous System of the human embryo for audiovisual teaching purposes”.
As an attending specialist in Gastroenterology at Hospital del Sureste. Principal investigator at Hospital del Sureste for the PROFILE study conducted in 2010-2011: “Symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD): classification of adult subjects with typical GERD symptoms and description of the most frequent symptom profiles and their characteristics - European observational study”.
AREAS OF INTEREST
Digestive endoscopy:
- Advanced therapeutic endoscopy: mucosal resection, endoscopic submucosal dissection, treatment of Zenker’s diverticulum, stent placement, and transmural resection of gastrointestinal tumors, among others.
- ERCP.
- Diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic ultrasound.
Dedicated clinic for biliopancreatic disorders.
Activity
In teaching
Clinical Adjunct Professor teaching theoretical and practical classes in the “Gastrointestinal System” course of the Medicine undergraduate program at the Universidad Europea de Madrid from 2010 to 2017.
Co-director of two doctoral theses at the Universidad de Salamanca and at the Universidad de Alcalá de Henares.
In research
He has contributed to 15 scientific publications in national and international journals.
He has delivered more than 50 oral and written presentations at national and international congresses.
Co-author of 20 book chapters in his specialty.
