Professional career

Degree in Biological Sciences from the Universidad de Navarra (1999). Specialist in Radiopharmacy.

She completed her PhD thesis on the development of automated synthesis procedures for carbon-11–labeled PET radiopharmaceuticals in the Nuclear Medicine Service at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra.

Notable training stays include University Hospital St. Orsola-Malpighi Polyclinic in Bologna, Italy (2010) and the Instituto de Alta Tecnología (IAT) at Hospital del Mar in Barcelona (2008).

She has been an expert for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) since 2012. In this capacity, she has led several international cooperation missions with developing countries (Colombia, Uruguay, Argentina, Cuba, etc.) for knowledge transfer and training in various areas of radiopharmacy.

Since 2003, she has worked as a radiopharmacist in the PET-GMP laboratory at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra, currently holding the positions of Consultant, Quality Assurance Director, and Deputy Technical Director.

RESEARCH AREAS

  • Member of the Radiopharmacy and Radionanopharmacology Research Group at the Universidad de Navarra (RADIOMIN).
  • Collaborator of the Translational Molecular Imaging Unit (UNIMTRA), in radiosynthesis projects of small molecules and radiolabeled proteins.
  • She holds an international patent (WO/2018/234489) on procedures related to albumin nanoparticles.
  • She has supervised two doctoral theses and is currently supervising two more.
  • She has participated and is participating in more than 30 clinical trials with radiopharmaceuticals, being responsible for management and, when applicable, preparation and quality assurance of the investigational radiopharmaceutical medicinal product. She holds ongoing GCP certifications.
  • She has participated and is participating as a member of the research team in 18 funded research projects awarded through competitive national and European calls and in 9 research projects funded through non-competitive calls with private entities.
  • She has three recognized six-year research periods awarded by ANECA.

Activity

In teaching

  • Professor of the Pharmaceutical Technology course at the School of Pharmacy, Universidad de Navarra. She participates as a lecturer in the PET theoretical-practical courses and in the Radioactive Facilities Operator Course organized by the Nuclear Medicine Service at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra.
  • Extensive experience in training tasks, particularly at the postgraduate level, serving as Tutor for the training of Radiopharmacy residents in the Radiopharmacy Teaching Unit and being responsible for the training of national and international specialists (under the IAEA cooperation framework).

In research

  • Author of 36 articles (18 Q1+9 Q2: >70%), 3 book chapters, and more than 100 presentations at national and international congresses.
  • H-index of 19 and >1000 citations, data that support the relevance of her articles.
