Primary focus on the study and treatment of autoimmune inflammatory arthritis (rheumatoid arthritis, spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, reactive arthritis, microcrystalline arthritis), osteoarthritis, and osteoporosis.

Professional career

Medical Degree (MD) from the University of Navarra (1999). Completed doctoral coursework and the Advanced Research Proficiency (“suficiencia investigadora”) at the Autonomous University of Madrid.

Specialist in Rheumatology, MIR training at Hospital Universitario Puerta de Hierro (Madrid), 2004. He has worked at several hospitals (Hospital Universitario Puerta de Hierro, Madrid; Hospital de Albacete; Hospital de Basurto, Bilbao) before joining our center, where he has been working for 7 years.

He worked for 1 year in Tsiroanomandidy (Madagascar) as a general physician and musculoskeletal specialist, in collaboration with the Missionary Commissariat of the Order of the Trinitarians.

In 2012, he completed the Master’s Program in Spondyloarthritis (UEM) of the Spanish Society of Rheumatology.

RESEARCH AREAS

He has collaborated on more than 20 research projects (national and international) on various rheumatic diseases.

AREAS OF INTEREST

 Study of the diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory arthritis and osteoarthritis.

Activity

In teaching

  • Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Navarra in Rheumatology courses during 2006–2013 and in Pre-Clinical studies.
  • Collaborator in the Master’s Program in Pharmaceutical Care in Geriatrics, 2010–2013.
  • Collaborator in an accredited Continuing Education course of the Ministry of Health and Social Policy: Imaging diagnosis in musculoskeletal disorders.

In research

He has participated in more than 20 lectures/presentations at national and international conferences and has contributed to various national and international books and journals.
