Professional career

Degree in Medicine and Surgery, University of Navarra. PhD, University of Navarra.

Training in Pathology. Department of Pathology, Clínica Universidad de Navarra, Pamplona.

Postdoctoral Associate Researcher at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Department of Pathology and Microbiology, Omaha, NE, United States (1993-1995).

Co-Director of the Department of Pathology since 2016 and Head of the Cytopathology Area.

RESEARCH AREAS

  • As a researcher, Dr. Lozano is a Principal Investigator and is part of multidisciplinary teams within the university, as well as at national and international level.
  • Associate Editor: Cytopathology, Precision Cancer Medicine (PCM), Journal of Molecular Pathology, Frontiers in Medicine – Advances in Molecular Cytopathology.  

AREAS OF INTEREST

  • Her main interest and extensive experience are in cytopathology, particularly in new approaches to FNAB and in the development and application of molecular techniques in cytological samples and small specimens obtained through minimally invasive methods.
  • Molecular pathology in cytology.
  • Digital pathology in cytology. Involved in the study of the tumour microenvironment in lung and pancreatic tumours.
  • Also dedicated to surgical pathology of the lung and mediastinum.

  • 200 articles in national and international scientific journals.
  • More than 500 communications at meetings.
  • Ten book chapters.
  • Author of two chapters in the new WHO “Blue Books” on pancreatic and lung cytopathology. Editor of the WHO “Blue Book” on pancreatobiliary cytology. 
  • Numerous lectures delivered.
  • Courses on FNA, molecular biology applied to cytopathology, and digital pathology in cytopathology.
