Professional career

Graduated in Medicine from the University of Salamanca in 2011.

Specialist in Pediatrics and its Specific Areas with a subspecialty in Neonatology at Gregorio Marañón Hospital (Madrid) in 2016.

Training stay in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Columbus (Ohio), USA. January–February 2016.

University Expert in the care of premature newborns (2017). University Expert in the care of term newborns (in progress). Master’s Degree in Neonatology from the Spanish Society of Neonatology, Catholic University of Valencia.

RESEARCH AREAS

  • Has participated in three research projects:
    • Principal investigator in the Observatory of Unintentional Injuries of the RiSEUP network of the Spanish Society of Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
    • Definition of serum creatinine values in healthy neonates and in NICUs: importance for the classification of acute kidney injury. Gregorio Marañón Hospital and Gómez Ulla Central Defense Hospital. Collaborating researcher.
    • High-frequency oscillatory mechanical ventilation at elevated frequencies as a lung protection strategy in respiratory distress syndrome in newborn piglets. Gregorio Marañón Hospital. Collaborating researcher.
  • Currently involved in several joint research projects in collaboration with other universities.

AREAS OF INTEREST

  • Focus on Neonatology (care of newborns with medical conditions, management of premature infants, neonatal resuscitation, protective factors against necrotizing enterocolitis in very low birth weight newborns).

Activity

In teaching

  • Clinical teaching collaborator in the Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine, Gregorio Marañón Hospital, Complutense University of Madrid. Academic years 2014/2015 and 2015/2016.
  • Lecturer in the Master’s Program in Primary Care Pediatrics, CEU Cardenal Herrera University. Academic year 2014–2015.
  • Clinical teaching collaborator in the subject Anatomy and Physiology, Biomedical Engineering Degree, Gregorio Marañón Hospital, Carlos III University of Madrid. Academic year 2015–2016.
  • Certified instructor in neonatal cardiopulmonary resuscitation by the Spanish Society of Neonatology.
  • Associate instructor in clinical training for third-year medical students at the University of Navarra.

In research

  • Has contributed to more than 12 scientific publications in national and international journals. Co-author of five book chapters related to her specialty.
  • Has delivered more than 25 oral and poster presentations at national conferences in her field.
