Degree in Medicine, Autonomous University of Madrid (1999).

Specialist in Paediatrics at Hospital Príncipe de Asturias, University of Alcalá de Henares (2004). Subspecialty in Paediatric Oncology at Hospital Infantil Universitario Niño Jesús, Madrid (2004-2006).

Rotation in 2004 at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, USA.

From January 2006 to February 2020, Consultant in the Paediatric Oncology Service at Hospital Infantil Universitario Niño Jesús.

Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Fellow at SickKids Hospital in Toronto, Canada (2014-2016).

PhD in Medicine (Extraordinary Award), Autonomous University of Madrid (2017).

Since 2016, Coordinator of the Brain Tumours Unit at Hospital Niño Jesús.

RESEARCH AREAS

  • He has participated in three FIS projects as a sub-investigator and in one as principal investigator: “Exercise as an adjuvant therapy in paediatric cancer (solid tumours): from the laboratory to the clinic. Part 2: Exercise in medulloblastoma (clinical trial during radiotherapy treatment)” (2019-2021).
  • He has conducted more than 10 clinical trials as Principal Investigator and 5 as sub-investigator.

  • New approaches in the diagnosis and treatment of low-grade gliomas in children and adolescents.
  • High-grade gliomas secondary to radiotherapy.
  • Gliomas in neurofibromatosis type I.
  • Brain tumours in adolescents.
  • Cancer in adolescents.
  • Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in infants and in patients with Down syndrome.
  • Physical exercise and paediatric cancer.

Activity

In teaching

  • Clinical teaching collaborator in the Department of Paediatrics at the Autonomous University of Madrid since 2007.
  • Lecturer in various PhD courses at the Autonomous University of Madrid and the Complutense University of Madrid.
  • Currently supervising 3 doctoral theses.

In research

  • Author of more than 86 articles in international indexed journals and more than 34 articles in national journals.
  • Editor-author of 3 books and author of 30 book chapters.
  • More than 80 presentations at national and international conferences.
