Professional career

Medical degree from the University of Navarra in 1995.

PhD in Medicine from the University of Navarra in 2004 with the dissertation “Echocardiographic and biochemical characterization of diastolic dysfunction in arterial hypertension”.

Specialist in Cardiology since 2001; she completed her specialty training at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra and completed her training as an echocardiographer at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 2002.

Clinical collaborator in the Department of Cardiology from 2001 to 2004, rejoining the Department again in 2014.

RESEARCH AREAS

  • Imaging study and diagnosis of cardiac involvement in Arterial Hypertension.
  • Member of the TRUE-HF translational research multidisciplinary team (EMIT) for research on heart failure with preserved systolic function.

AREAS OF INTEREST

Her main areas of interest are:

  • Hypertensive heart disease
  • Heart failure
  • Cardiac imaging

Activity

In teaching

  • Adjunct Professor at the School of Medicine of the University of Navarra.
  • Resident tutor.

In research

She has published several articles in national and international journals and has participated in national and international conferences, receiving, in 2004, the award for best oral presentation at the Annual Meeting of the Arterial Hypertension Section of the Spanish Society of Cardiology.

Likewise, she has received different grants and awards:

  • Government of Navarra grant for a training stay abroad
  • Spanish Society of Cardiology grant for short stays abroad
  • CAN Foundation grant for the project “Study of the combined usefulness of circulating and imaging markers for the early diagnosis of myocardial damage in heart failure.”
