Professional career

Medical degree (1986) and PhD in Medicine and Surgery (1994) from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Navarra (1986).

Member of the Medical Area of the Management Board at Clínica Universidad de Navarra.

He completed training stays at New York Medical College, the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center (Texas), and the House Ear Institute (Los Angeles).

Staff physician in the Department of Otolaryngology at Clínica Universidad de Navarra and Director of the Voice and Laryngeal Pathophysiology Laboratory within this department, which includes several research lines related to the voice and its disorders.

He is also part of the Clinic’s Blistering Diseases Unit.

RESEARCH AREAS

Research lines: laryngeal pemphigus, professional voice, singing voice, pediatric dysphonia, and functional dysphonia.

He has participated in several research projects as principal investigator and as a team member. He is currently a team member on a project (FIS – Intrasalud) funded by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III.

In teaching

Tenured Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Navarra (Otolaryngology and Appraisal of Scientific Evidence).

Director of the Clinical Training Unit at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Navarra.

He collaborates as faculty in the Master’s in Neuroscience and Cognition at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Navarra; the Master’s in Phonetics and Phonology taught at the CSIC Center for Human and Social Sciences and affiliated with Universidad Menéndez Pelayo; and the University Master’s Degree in Voice and Language Disorders at the Universidad Católica de Murcia.

In research

He has delivered more than 50 lectures and presentations and has presented more than 90 communications and posters at both national and international conferences.

He has supervised 9 PhD theses.

He has published numerous articles in national and international specialty scientific journals and has contributed to more than 20 book chapters.
