Primary focus on the prevention and treatment of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism
Professional career
MD (1997) and PhD in Medicine (2003), University of Navarra. Completed specialty training in Hematology at Clínica Universidad de Navarra (1998–2002).
In 2009, completed a training fellowship in the Amyloidosis Unit at Policlinico San Matteo, University of Pavia (Italy).
Appointed Co-Director of the Department of Hematology and Hemotherapy in November 2020.
RESEARCH AREAS
He has served as Principal Investigator in more than 10 clinical trials, in addition to multiple investigator-initiated studies funded through public (FIS, Government of Navarra) and private research grant calls.

- Advances in the diagnosis and treatment of amyloidosis (systemic AL amyloidosis) and other monoclonal gammopathies.
- Cancer–thrombosis interplay.
- Prevention and treatment of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism.

Accredited by ANECA as Full Professor (Profesor Titular de Universidad) in July 2013.
Director of the Postgraduate Training Course in Thrombotic Disorders (CAPT@), organized by the University of Navarra School of Medicine together with the Spanish Society of Hematology and Hemotherapy (SEHH) and the Spanish Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis (SETH).

Author of more than 150 presentations/communications at national conferences and 50 at international conferences.
Author of more than 70 articles in national and international scientific journals.
Author of 40 book chapters.
