Professional career

Industrial Engineer (1994) from the University of Navarra, Master’s in Biomedical Engineering from Drexel University (1997), and PhD in Biophysics from the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, USA) (2003).

She completed postdoctoral stays at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging (University College London, 2003-2004) and at the University of Pennsylvania (Center for Functional Neuroimaging, 2004-2006), where she is an Adjunct Associate Professor.

She currently leads the Biomedical Imaging Laboratory.

RESEARCH AREAS

  • Her research lines focus on developing new quantitative imaging techniques using MRI and their clinical applications.
  • She is an expert in functional neuroimaging, including techniques such as BOLD and ASL perfusion (“Arterial Spin Labeling”), applied to brain disorders, with the aim of establishing biomarkers for early diagnosis and disease monitoring.
  • Within the ASL field, her work has contributed to the development of the technique and its clinical application.
  • In the last 5 years, she has begun working on multiparametric MRI techniques applied to other organs, particularly the heart and kidney..

Activity

In teaching

  • In 2012, she was accredited as an Associate Professor in the area of Radiology and Physical Medicine by the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA).
  • She is a Teaching Collaborator at the University of Navarra.

In research

  • She has written more than 100 articles published in high-impact international journals (h-index = 39).
  • She has delivered more than 100 lectures/presentations at national and international conferences.
  • She holds the advanced research accreditation from AQ Catalunya and has four recognized six-year research terms.
  • She has participated in numerous research projects funded at the regional, national, and European levels, serving as Principal Investigator in 9 of them.
  • She has received funding through the Stable Incorporation of PhDs Program, the Ramón y Cajal Program, and the Torres Quevedo Program.
  • She serves as a reviewer for scientific journals (Neuroimage, Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, Human Brain Mapping, etc.) and evaluates projects for national and international agencies.
