Professional career

Graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Navarra, in 2005.

Resident Physician in Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra from 2006 to 2010.

Training stay at the Urogynecology Unit, Sydney Medical School Nepean, University of Sydney, Australia. Expert in pelvic floor ultrasound.

Certified in affective-sexual education by Francisco de Vitoria University.

Currently a specialist physician at the same institution.

RESEARCH AREAS

  • Enrolled in the PhD program in General and Digestive Surgery at the University of Navarra.
  • Defended her doctoral thesis in 2015 titled “Influences of Different Types of Delivery on the Anatomy and Function of the Sphincter and the Levator Ani Muscle.”
  • Participated in a research project funded by a FISH grant awarded in 2013, now completed.

AREAS OF INTEREST

  • Special focus on general gynecology and menopause, pelvic floor disorders, and urogynecology.
  • Performs pelvic floor ultrasound for the assessment of pelvic dysfunctions.
  • Treatment of vulvar lichen and the genitourinary syndrome of menopause, as well as vulvovaginal atrophy using fractional CO2 laser therapy.

Activity

In teaching

  • Lecturer in the official program of the Obstetrics & Gynecology Nursing Teaching Unit (Midwifery), teaching resident midwives (EIR) the subject of Anatomy and Embryology (22 teaching hours) from the 2014–15 through 2021–22 academic years.
  • Associate professor at the Faculty of Medicine, teaching General Gynecology to 2nd-, 3rd-, and 4th-year medical students, as well as the elective course on Pelvic Floor Pathology for upper-level students.

In research

  • Has authored 17 national and international publications.
  • Has attended 11 national conferences and 4 international conferences.
  • Author of the Pelvic Floor section in the *Expert Course in Ultrasound for Reproduction, Endometriosis, Pelvic Pain, and Pelvic Floor*. Editorial Panamericana.
