Professional career

Graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Navarra in 2008. 

PhD in Medicine from the University of Navarra in 2017.

Specialist in Cardiology at Clínica Universidad de Navarra in 2014.

Master’s degree in Diagnostic and Therapeutic Cardiac Electrophysiology, 2015-2017. Universidad San Pablo CEU.

Certification in Adult Transthoracic Echocardiography. 2013. European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI). Athens. Euroecho.

Deputy Director of the Department of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery at both sites, and Head of the Cardiology Department at Clínica Universidad de Navarra in Madrid.

RESEARCH AREAS

He has participated in numerous national and international research projects, including initiatives funded by the European Commission, the Carlos III Health Institute and the Government of Navarra.

These include the BRAV3, CARDIOPATCH, CARDIOPRINT and NANOFIB projects, focused on the development of regenerative therapies, 3D bioprinting and new approaches for the treatment of heart failure and pathological cardiac remodeling.

He has also been principal investigator in several clinical registries and co-investigator in more than ten multicenter clinical trials.

Activity

In teaching

  • He is responsible for the elective subject Cardiology Emergencies and is co-director of the Expert Course in Cardiomyopathies at the University of Navarra.
  • He actively participates in the training of undergraduate students, residents and doctoral students, and is responsible for teaching in the department at CUN Madrid.
  • He currently directs two doctoral theses, supervises several undergraduate final degree projects and coordinates teaching activities within the Cardiology Department.

In research

  • Author and co-author of scientific publications in high-impact international journals.
  • His scientific output covers areas such as clinical cardiology, arrhythmias, myocarditis, cardio-oncology, cardiovascular imaging and regenerative medicine.
