Specialist in Rheumatology.
Special focus: the study and treatment of systemic autoimmune and inflammatory rheumatic diseases, as well as bone metabolism disorders.
Professional career
Degree in Medicine from the University of the Basque Country (1993-99).
Specialist in Rheumatology through MIR residency training at Hospital de Cruces (Biscay) (2001-05).
Online Master's Degree in Medical Assessment organized by the Virtual School of Health of the Virtual University of Barcelona. 470 teaching hours (2004-05).
RESEARCH AREAS
- Principal investigator in two national studies and co-investigator in three national studies.
- Member of the working group responsible for the consensus document on the use of intravenous immunoglobulins at Hospital Universitario de Navarra (2018-19).
- Member of the multidisciplinary Pulmonary Hypertension Committee at Hospital Universitario de Navarra (2020-26).
- She is currently involved in two research projects at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra.
AREAS OF INTEREST
- Study of the diagnosis and treatment of idiopathic inflammatory myopathies, systemic sclerosis, and inflammatory arthritis, including rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis.
- Diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis.
Activity
In teaching
- Clinical Associate Professor and teaching tutor at the School of Medicine of the University of Navarra since 2007.
- She has delivered various local courses and update seminars for specialists on systemic autoimmune rheumatic diseases, as well as training courses on osteoporosis and psoriatic arthritis and seminars on immunization in immunocompromised patients.
In research
- She has contributed to two chapters in two Spanish rheumatology books.
- She has participated as a collaborator in various posters presented at national and international conferences.
- She has participated as a co-investigator in two national studies, as well as in the Novartis GCAptAIN phase III international, multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study. Study of the efficacy of secukinumab versus placebo, in combination with a glucocorticoid tapering regimen, in patients with giant cell arteritis (GCA); CAIN457R12301; 2024-510744-31-00; NCT493.
