- Head and Coordinator of the Infectious Diseases course in the Medical Degree program at the School of Medicine of the University of Navarra since the academic year.
- Professor in the courses of Infectious Diseases, Clinical Practice, and Differential Diagnosis.
- He has two six-year research periods recognized by the CNEAI (1996–2012 and 2013–2021).
- In April 2011 he obtained a positive evaluation of his teaching and research activity as “Profesor Contratado Doctor” and Professor at a Private University from the Directorate General of Universities of the Ministry of Education and Science.
- In September 2023 he obtained a favorable resolution (ANECA) for appointment to the body of Associate Professors (“Profesores Titulares de Universidad”) in the field of Health Sciences (Ref 2023-000806).

- Author of 61 publications indexed in PubMed. In more than 60% of them he appears in a primary authorship position (first author, senior/last author, or corresponding author). Around 40% of these papers have been published in first-quartile journals, including Lancet, Lancet Infectious Diseases, Clinical Infectious Diseases, Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, Hepatology, Haematologica, Frontiers in Immunology, European Journal of Clinical and Infectious Diseases, American Journal of Internal Medicine, and Antibiotics.
- He has authored 39 book chapters and edited 6 medical books.
- He has supervised three doctoral theses (one of them awarded a distinguished thesis prize) and is currently supervising another one.
- He has supervised 14 undergraduate final projects and has served on evaluation committees for 20 such projects.
- Author/co-author of more than 150 communications at national and international conferences. He has delivered more than 60 invited scientific lectures at national and international congresses, seminars, and meetings in hospitals and research centers.
