Professional career

Medical degree from the University of Valladolid in 2004.

Specialist in Endocrinology and Nutrition at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, 2005-2009.

Master’s in Biomedical Research and PhD in Medicine from the University of Valladolid in 2013.

He completed a postdoctoral stay at Hôpital Kremlin-Bicêtre and Institut Gustave Roussy in Paris, France.

Since 2009, he has been a Specialist in Endocrinology and Nutrition at Hospital Clínico de Valladolid.

RESEARCH AREAS

  • Specialized in the thyroid field, he is a member of the Ultrasound Imaging and Related Techniques Group of the Spanish Society of Endocrinology and Nutrition.
  • He has participated in more than 10 competitively funded trials and projects as Principal Investigator in the area of thyroid nodular disease and thyroid cancer.

  • Study and treatment of thyroid and parathyroid nodular disease and the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of thyroid cancer. Ultrasound imaging and related techniques. 

Activity

In teaching

  • Accredited as an Associate Professor (Profesor Contratado Doctor), he has been an Adjunct Professor at the University of Valladolid (School of Medicine) since 2010.
  • He teaches in numerous specialty courses endorsed by the Spanish Society of Diabetes and the Spanish Society of Endocrinology and Nutrition, as well as in postgraduate training in the Master’s in Biomedical Research at the University of Valladolid.

In research

  • He has published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles in international journals, with particular interest in the follow-up and management of thyroid nodular disease, thyroid cancer control, and the use of artificial intelligence in clinical settings. 
  • He has participated in more than 100 national and international lectures in the field of thyroid cancer and thyroid nodular disease.
  • He serves as a reviewer for scientific journals in the field.
