MD (1981) and PhD in Medicine (2005), University of Navarra. Specialist in Nephrology, Clínica Universidad de Navarra.

Consultant, Department of Nephrology, Clínica Universidad de Navarra.

He has developed his clinical and research work in the inpatient setting, focusing especially on morbidity in patients with kidney disease, fluid and electrolyte balance, and the diagnostic and prognostic assessment of acute kidney failure. In recent years, he has also focused on the detection and evaluation of subclinical nephropathy and its relationship with cardiovascular risk.

RESEARCH AREAS

  • Diagnosis and prognostic assessment of acute kidney failure. Markers of tubular injury.
  • Fluid and electrolyte disorders and edematous states. Techniques to assess total body volume status.
  • Cardiovascular risk and subclinical nephropathy.

Activity

In teaching

He teaches at the School of Medicine and pays special attention to the clinical training of medical students as the coordinator of clinical clerkships.

In research

He has supervised theses and published articles in national and international journals. He has presented multiple works at national and international conferences, especially in the areas of acute kidney failure, fluid and electrolyte balance, and subclinical nephropathy.
