Specialist in Otolaryngology
Primary focus on pediatric otolaryngology, hearing loss, and cochlear implants.
Professional career
Medical degree from the University of Cádiz (1991) and PhD in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Navarra (2001). Specialist in Otolaryngology at Clínica Universidad de Navarra (1998).
He has completed training and research stays at national and international centers such as Allgemeines Krankenhaus der Stadt Wien (Austria); Akademisch Ziekenhuis Groningen (the Netherlands); the Neurobiology of Hearing Laboratory at the Institute of Neurosciences of Castilla y León (Salamanca); and the “Temporal Bone Laboratory” at the “House Ear Institute” (USA).

RESEARCH AREAS
He was awarded recognition for 3 six-year research terms (sexenios) by the National Commission for the Evaluation of Research Activity (CNEAI) in 2012.
His research activity focuses particularly on two main areas: hearing disorders and pediatric otolaryngology.

Activity
In teaching
- Positive evaluation as an Assistant Professor with a PhD (Profesor Contratado Doctor) and Private University Professor by the National Agency for Quality Assessment (ANECA) in October 2005.
- Positive evaluation as a Tenured University Professor (Profesor Titular de Universidad) by ANECA in February 2010.
- Appointment as Associate Professor/Tenured Department Faculty (area of knowledge “Otolaryngology”) by the University of Navarra in September 2010.
- Instructor in the following courses of the Medical Degree: Otolaryngology; Practical Clinical Training II, VII and VIII; Advanced Simulation Techniques; Final Degree Project.
- He has participated in various teaching innovation projects, leading more than 10 accredited and competitively funded courses.
- Member of the Academic Committee of the University of Navarra “Excellence Program”.
- Resident Physician Tutor.
In research
He has published more than 50 articles in specialized journals and 25 book chapters or monographs. He has participated in 12 research projects or contracts. He has supervised 2 PhD theses and 3 Final Degree Projects.
He has served on the scientific committee of several national and international courses and congresses. In total, he has delivered more than 124 scientific communications at national and international meetings, participated in more than 25 round tables, and given more than 54 lectures.
He is an external reviewer for the journals “Laryngoscope”, “Acta Otorrinolaringológica Española”, and “Revista de Neurologia”.
