Professional career

Degree in Medicine from the University of Navarra with the Extraordinary Graduation Award (2000). Specialist in Internal Medicine from the Clínica Universidad de Navarra (2006). PhD in Medicine from the University of Navarra (2015).

Since 2006, Specialist in the Department of Internal Medicine at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra. Has been actively involved in the areas of Hospitalization, Hospital Medicine, Intermediate Care, Hepatology, and the COVID-19 ward.

RESEARCH AREAS

  • His research focuses on the analysis of clinical care aspects (such as co-management of hospitalized patients and the care of critically ill patients in the Intermediate Care Unit) and the study of liver diseases.

AREAS OF INTEREST

  • His main areas of interest include Hospital Medicine, critical care, and the study of liver diseases (advanced cirrhosis and liver transplantation). In addition, he is actively involved in medical teaching at both the academic and clinical levels.

Activity

In teaching

  • Resident tutor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra (since 2018).
  • Accredited by ANECA as Profesor Contratado Doctor (Tenured Lecturer) and Private University Professor (2019). Responsible for the course Medical Practice II (Medicine Degree, University of Navarra) and for supervising medical students rotating through the Department of Internal Medicine at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra. Also collaborates in teaching the courses Mechanisms of Disease and Pathology of Organs and Systems I.

In research

  • Has authored 40 book chapters and contributed to 43 articles in national and international journals. According to Web of Science, there are 67 indexed publications with a total of 758 citations and an h-index of 14 (as of February 2024).
  • Accredited by the National Commission for the Evaluation of Research Activity (CNEAI) with two six-year research periods (2020).
