RESEARCH AREAS
- 2021–present. Principal investigator of the project: Benefits of deep brain stimulation for the treatment of dystonia in children with cerebral palsy.
- 2020–present. Principal investigator of the project: Clinical application of smartphone-based photogrammetry for the diagnosis and monitoring of craniofacial deformities.
- 2019–present. Collaborating investigator in the project: Phase I clinical trial to assess the safety and preliminary clinical response of allogeneic bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells in children and adolescents with X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy.
AREAS OF INTEREST
- Pediatric neurosurgery, especially craniosynostosis, brain tumors, hydrocephalus, Chiari malformation, spasticity, and dystonia.
- Functional neurosurgery, with a special focus on epilepsy surgery, implantation of baclofen pumps for the treatment of spasticity, and deep brain stimulation for the treatment of dystonia.
Activity
In teaching
- Has taught undergraduate and graduate courses at the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Nursing of the Autonomous University of Madrid, at Fundación Jiménez Díaz, at Rey Juan Carlos University in Móstoles, and at Francisco de Vitoria University in Madrid.
- Instructor for several editions of the Master’s in Neuroscience at the Autonomous University of Madrid.
- Has taught at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Navarra.
In research
- Author of more than eight scientific articles, two of them published in international journals.
- First author of two book chapters.
- Has presented over 20 papers at national conferences and three at international conferences.
