When evaluating the prognostic factors that modify the risk of relapse in early uterine cervical cancer, we have always considered, in a relevant way, the traditional findings of the pathological report, and, among them, in particular, lymph node status.

Unlike the SUCCOR study,1 the SUCCOR RISK study and the SUCCOR CONE study2 included patients who underwent conization before radical hysterectomy. Classically, cervical conization has been habitually considered a surgical maneuver with a diagnostic purpose that allows us to rule out invasion.

In particular, in some centers it is performed on small tumors to evaluate the suitability of primarily performing surgery or irradiation, and, in selected cases, as a form of conservative treatment of very early cervical cancer.
