Anisakiasis and intestinal endometriosis: under-recognized conditions in the differential diagnosis of acute abdomen

Abstract

Anisakiasis and endometriosis is rare cause of intestinal obstruction and even perforation, the latter being extremely rare. We report the case of a patient with intestinal obstruction that progress to perforation and whose differential diagnosis is complex.

The interest in this clinical case lies in the unexpected histology of the surgical specimen after the intervention of the patient, because the intestinal endometriosis as intestinal anisakiasis are rare entities that make diagnosis difficult.
