Recently we read the letter published in the issue of July 2007 titled ‘What to do if the endotracheal tube will not pass through the nasal passage during fiberoptic nasotracheal intubation’. I think it is very interesting, but it has been described widely by other authors before.

There are other ways of improving awake fiberoptic nasotracheal intubation. The first is to use a nasotracheal tube with an internal diameter as close as possible to the fiberoptic diameter; otherwise with the introduction of the tube you will find obstacles that you cannot recognise with the fiberoptic.
