An infant with a capillary malformation on the lower lip

A male newborn presented with skin lesions on the lower lip, face, neck, and head, noted at birth after an uncomplicated vaginal delivery.

Physical examination revealed a flat, blanchable, red patch on the lower lip with symmetrical distribution and well‐defined frayed edges that exceeded and surrounded the entire lip vermillion (Figure 1).

There were also reticulate patches of red to purple skin discoloration with prominent veins on the neck, jaw, and scalp (Figures 2–4-2–4). The findings from the remainder of the examination were normal. There was no family history of similar lesions.
