This has been demonstrated by recent clinical trials whose conclusions have revealed that self-transplantation of bone marrow progenitor cells is better than conventional treatment in patients with recurrent/remitting multiple sclerosis, cases in which attacks or relapses are followed by periods of remission.
Recent research has corroborated the effectiveness of transplantation in slowing down the disease progression and improving symptoms. The goal of the therapy is for the new stem cells to be able to rebuild the patient's bone marrow and immune system.
