We have read with great interest the paper entitled “Retrospective evaluation of prognostic score performances in cirrhotic patients admitted to an intermediate care unit” of Dupont et al. [1].
Several severity-of-illness scores (SOFA, SAPS II and 3, Child–Pugh, MELD, MELD-Na and CLIF-C ACLF) are compared, and a new prognostic score (Ci-Pro) is developed. Performance of SOFA, MELD and especially the Ci-Pro score was shown to be better than that of the other scores in predicting in-hospital mortality of patients admitted to their ImCU (Intermediate Care Unit).
