To date, six cases of anaphylactic reactions to protein-pump inhibitors have been reported in the literature.
The presence of in vitro specific IgE against these drugs could not be proven in any of those cases. The usefulness of the basophil activation test in the in vitro diagnosis of allergic reactions to drugs has been described here.
