A changing journal for a changing field

The field of movement disorders is a relatively young field whose foundations are based upon classical clinical and pathological observations. However the field is changing rapidly, and today clinical skills must be supplemented by knowledge of anatomy, pharmacology, neurophysiology, molecular biology, and genetics in order to properly understand and optimally diagnose and manage the many different movement disorders.

In our new positions as editors of the journal, we will focus on providing new clinical and scientific information that advances our knowledge about the cause and treatment of the different movement disorders, while at the same time remaining true to our roots which lie in the traditions of clinical phenomenology.
